Revoltab – Smart fragrance worlds at Papieri

Our ability to smell is our strongest sense and we have all experienced the “Proust effect”, whereby a particular aroma triggers an involuntary memory. Be it suncream while on holiday or the smell of our parents’ house – a memory combined with a scent stays with us forever. And there is a suitable fragrance for every situation, which is exactly where the start-up Revoltab comes in.

When we furnish a room, we pay attention to colors, materials, lighting and acoustics. But what about fragrance? Enter Revoltab. The start-up has developed a room-fragrance capsule system that is both smart and virtually invisible. The young company aims to revolutionize the fragrance industry and is well on the way to achieving that goal.

Livio Fazio is the founder and CEO of Revoltab, and the creative mastermind behind it. He has always been fascinated by fragrance and, following a career as a professional ice-hockey player and then having held various roles in the fragrance and beauty industry, he came up with his current business idea. «We tried to understand customers’ needs and developed Revoltab based on these. Our product is entirely the result of market feedback,» the entrepreneur explains. Following years of development, the product was launched in spring 2023.

There are currently eight different fragrance worlds. A capsule used for eight hours a day will last around two months.
The diffuser is virtually invisible when plugged into the socket. The fragrance capsule is managed via an app and is easy to replace.

Revoltab's fragrance capsule system is extremely simple and essentially works in the same way as a coffee capsule system. The diffuser is virtually invisible when plugged into the socket and the fragrance is emitted via the capsule. The visually discreet solution can be managed via the app, so that it constantly emits the ideal amount of room fragrance.

From restaurants and hotels, though beauty salons and medical facilities, to stores, offices and private homes, the target audience is extremely broad and the response to date has been fantastic. Fragrance is both relevant and ubiquitous. A room can be beautifully furnished and well lighted, but if it doesn’t smell nice, none of that matters. «Fragrance is essential for a good atmosphere and governs our sense of well-being. There is a suitable fragrance for every situation and ambience. Recognizing and responding to this is what Revoltab is all about,» says Livio.

When it comes to a room, you should never wonder whether it is scented or not. A fragrance should be an integral part of the room's ambience.

Brand and vision are essential to the success of any product. And this extends beyond its design and appearance. «When we welcome customers to our studio in the Papieri, they open the door and instantly enter the world of Revoltab. It's extremely personal and we can really succeed here,” he says. The atmosphere is fantastic and the whole team is extremely happy to be part of the Papieri.»

Livio is convinced that the Papieri will also develop its own unique scent over time – formed by the people who live here, the River Lorze, the concrete, the greenery and the cuisine. As people grow up here, they will internalize the smell of the Papieri and always associate it with this place and their memories of it. «I’m looking forward to the time when the Papieri settles down once the construction phase is over and the quality of life can really begin to develop. The diversity and authenticity of the area are what define the Papieri», says the man from Zug.

We’re also looking forward to that!
