It will join the complex of second-phase buildings, which also includes two high-rise residential buildings containing 100 condominiums and rental apartments, a daycare facility, and around 60 micro-apartments. “The planned sports residence will complement the use concept for the Papieri site perfectly,” enthuses Andreas Friederich, CEO of the Cham Group. New owner Hans-Peter Strebel couldn’t be happier: “In my life, nothing is ever completely done; things are always evolving. Even before the OYM College opened, our thoughts had already turned to developing a residence concept. The fact that the new residence for our college students can take shape really close to the OYM and is also set in a lovely residential and working district is the icing on the cake.”
At home in the new building
The new OYM College residence will provide accommodation for up to 60 teens and young adults. Currently, they have to stay with host families, who are scattered across the area. The athletes, aged 15–18, will stay in twin rooms, while older students will live in shared apartments within the residence. A prep kitchen on the ground floor of the new building will relieve the main kitchen in the OYM Sports Center. The OYM College residence and a retail unit on the ground floor will also benefit from this infrastructure. It is scheduled to be ready for its first occupants from early 2024.
