Today: a major building site; tomorrow: Atelier 14: Tobias and Lukas are in the midst of the planning stage.

With «Atelier 14» a part of the new Papieri era

Lukas Schnurrenberger und Tobias Rothenfluh – the two guys from AVP Media-Design – in Cham will open another location in the Papieri at the end of the year with «Atelier 14». What exactly are they up to and what are they most looking forward to? Lukas Schnurrenberger and Tobias Rothenfluh talk about their plans, visions and expectations for the Papieri.

When you enter AVP Media-Design’s current studio in the center of Cham, it’s instantly evident that expansion is required – the space is packed with technical equipment such as cameras, lenses, lights, tripods, mixing consoles and computers. “We’re very excited about our additional location in the Papieri, which will provide fresh impetus after over a decade in business,” says Tobias. As a child, he used to pass the Papieri site on his way to school. A historic place – for Tobias, Lukas and Cham.

«We’re delighted to be part of the new Papieri era.»

The two met as teenagers through their passion for music, thereby creating a link to their current careers and ultimately to AVP Media-Design and Atelier 14. They began by producing music together and designing album covers, before becoming business partners after completing their apprenticeships and finally founding their film and photo production studio. Today, they implement film and photography projects – anything that requires a representative advertising and marketing company. Their customers include SMEs and key accounts.

Soon to be enjoying an after-work beer in the Papieri

«No two days are the same,” says Lukas. “Our production projects are extremely exciting and varied, involving a great deal of travel. But we also like the days when we start by having coffee together here in the studio and finish with an after-work beer. We’ll soon be doing this at Atelier 14 in the Papieri, around the corner by the Lorze».

As well as production projects throughout Switzerland, a lot also happens in the studio itself. And it simply became too small over the years. “In the Papieri, we’ll have a separate film and photography studio, allowing us to be much more efficient and flexible. At Atelier 14, we’ll also expand our portfolio to include live productions and streaming solutions. It’s a neighborhood that’s becoming increasingly popular, which we believe has a great deal of potential,” says Tobias. The idea is not to create geographical separation, but more space and flexibility. A second location provides scope to better adapt both the atmosphere and technical set-up to customers’ requirements and stakeholders.

The additional office in the Papieri provides numerous benefits for AVP Media-Design.

In addition to logistical aspects, the Cham-based duo are most looking forward to the diversity and ensuing creative energy in the Papieri and the people, businesses, restaurants and projects that they’ll encounter. And to the fact that this historic area is being revived. They’re confident it’s going to be fantastic: «People have been talking about this old district for so long and the renovation work will bring it back to life. We’re thrilled to be part of this new Papieri era and to share its growth with all its new tenants», says Lukas.

While Tobias adds: «The Papieri will be my new home in every respect. Because as well as opening our new Atelier 14 film studio, I’m also relocating to the area. I’ll be returning to my childhood neighborhood to both live and work in the Papieri. Even now, I can still hear the decommissioned paper mill train as it rumbles by».
