Building permits granted for the second phase of construction on the Papieri site

Some good news to mark the end of the year: building permits have been granted for the two high-rise residential buildings that form part of the second phase of construction on the Papieri site. Construction will begin over the coming days. A contract has already been concluded with the operators of the daycare center that will take up premises on the ground floor of Building I.

Construction on the Papieri site has gone to plan so far. The building permits for the two high-rise residential buildings in areas I and K have been granted as part of the second phase of construction. Work has already begun on the underground parking garage. Construction work on Building K is set to begin immediately, while Building I will be built from spring 2022. Construction of the OYM residential sports school on the site of the former silo building is scheduled to start around the same time. The building application for this has already been submitted

Commercial units and a big daycare facility on the ground floors

Besides the 36 rental and 61 condominiums, the ground floors of both high-rise buildings will contain commercial spaces geared toward the public, including one of the largest daycare facilities in Cham. With 440 m2 of space for children to play, plus an equally large outdoor area, there will be plenty of scope for scampering around. From 2024, around 40 children will be looked after here, ranging from babies to those of kindergarten age.

Sustainable construction

The Papieri development is founded on the 2000-watt society concept. All power for the development will come from renewable sources, making it 100% carbon neutral. Carbon-optimized construction methods also help to keep CO2 emissions to a minimum. Building I, which will contain 61 condominiums, features innovative, sustainable technology and timber-concrete composite construction. Wherever possible, recycled concrete is used for construction on the site. There is also a huge emphasis on keeping transport distances to a minimum and using Swiss building materials, all in the interests of sustainability.
