Two more building applications submitted for the Papieri site

Papieri, a development with an industrial past, is continuing to take shape at the heart of the canton of Zug. Two new building applications for the second phase of construction have now been submitted, ahead of the completion of the first-phase shell construction work and the start-up of the new sustainable energy system in autumn. The applications are for the two high-rise residential buildings in areas I and K at the center of the site.

Timber-concrete composite construction to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Having committed to the 2000-watt society concept, the Cham Group – the client – takes its responsibilities very seriously indeed. Not only is it implementing an innovative carbon-neutral energy system, it has also stipulated a timber-concrete composite design for the high-rise building in area I, in a decided effort to reduce carbon emissions.

The two residential high-rise buildings contain 61 condominiums and 36 rental apartments in total, ranging from spacious 1-bedroom to 4-bedroom apartments, with sweeping views over Lake Zug and the Alps from the upper floors. Both projects have been designed and planned by Zurich-based firm Huggenbergerfries Architekten (area I) and Konstrukt from Lucerne (area K).

The tree-lined Siloplatz is taking shape between the buildings and will provide yet another lovely outdoor spot within the Papieri development.

Diverse mix of uses, with a daycare facility and micro-apartments

In addition to the condominiums and rental apartments, the ground floors of both high-rise buildings will contain commercial spaces for public use. One of the largest daycare centers in the Cham area will be located here, with lots of outdoor space. A daycare provider from the local region has already signed up and will open its doors to several age groups of children from summer 2024. To top off the range of housing, the buildings will contain 62 micro-apartments – furnished apartments rented on a medium- to long-term basis.
